Unit 10: ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES.

   Today for 15 minutes we started a new lesson. It is on electromagnetic waves, and IT IS OUR LAST LESSON! Basically electromagnetic waves are transverse waves that travel at the speed of light (3x10^8 m/s). A light year is the distance light travels in one earth year. We are going to treat light like a wave even if it also acts like a particle. To see an object light must reflect back from the object to your eyeball. Then we got some key terms, one is transparent. This is when the light wave is able to pass through the object. Another is opaque, this is the opposite of transparent and is when the waves do not go through.
   An example of this is car windows. You can see through them meaning they are transparent to light. However if you have your car window up than you will not get tanned from the UV rays, meaning that it is opaque when it comes to UV rays.
